How we work

Our leadership structure is upside down and for a good reason. It makes it clear that the role of a leader is to support those in their team. We ensure this by:

  • Only hiring great people (smart, honest, ethical and competent), who know more than we do about their specialist area(s)
  • Explaining the big picture – what we are doing as a business, so you can see how your role is integral to it (If it’s not important we shouldn’t be building it)
  • Explaining what we want them to build (and why)
  • Letting them build it. We’ll provide ideas and our thinking so far, but you’ll have the freedom to build and work the way you want to.

The roles that we are currently hiring for are here. To apply for any of these roles, please attach a CV and a brief cover letter in an email to hiring@rightly.co.uk. We also welcome wildcard applications, if you’d like to work with us but the role that you’re looking for isn’t represented here - great people always add more value than they cost.

What we look for

We want to encourage everyone that would like to work for us to apply, and then let us decide whether there’s a fit for our current or future needs. For technical roles extensive knowledge of the code base that we use (Python hosted on AWS). All other details are considered beneficial and are included to give you a better idea of what the role is.

Why us?

Make a difference – we’re walking a new path, learn with us and be involved in creating something that impacts how we live on one of the high profile issues of today and tomorrow.

Flexible working environment and hours – we care about output and only you know how and when you work best, whether it’s in the office every day or in your dressing gown.

Meritocratic - All ideas are based on their merit and high performance is rewarded. In a rapidly growing business, you are able to decide the speed of your progression.

6 weeks paid holiday (min. 5 weeks must be taken) plus your birthday (or nearest Friday)

Our management structure is upside down and for a good reason. It makes it clear that the role of management is to support those in their team. When it comes to how we work, our method is as follows:

  • Only hire good people (smart, honest, ethical and competent), who know more than we do about their specialist area(s)
  • Explain the big picture – what we are doing as a business so they have a feel for what we are doing and understand how what they are building is an important part of it (If it’s not important we shouldn’t be building it)
  • Explain what we want them to build (and why)
  • Let them build it. We’ll provide ideas and our thinking so far, but you will have the freedom to build and work.

We hire people who love doing what they do and always want to improve.

What we look for

People who are better than us at what they do best.

Technical:
Evidence that you can do the job. This can be in the form of many years of experience building awesome things. We’d love to see examples of what you’ve built, if you can share it. If you’ve got demonstrable extensive experience in the area, an interview to cover this is unlikely to be necessary. If you’ve only got a few years of experience in this area, we may need to gain some assurance on your technical capabilities.

Security is at the heart of what we do – we want everyone that touches our technology to want to maximise privacy of our users and the security of the whole system. We don’t set requirements of security knowledge as we want a team culture of always learning about more.

Non-technical:
We want to see that there’s a fit between you and the rest of the team. The main reason behind our growth so far is the team works well together. This is almost impossible to read from a CV and the interviews will be with the company leadership and the direct team that you’ll be working with.
