Update your address with companies in one go. It's fast and completely free.

Easily tell companies that you've changed your address by sending them a 'rectification request' below today.

Why should I update my personal details?

You should update your address with companies if it's out of date or it bothers you.

This is because you may:

  • Miss important post
  • Accidentally order items to an old address
  • Be vulnerable to identity theft

Many people find the process of updating their address with companies lengthy, difficult and time-consuming. It doesn't have to be.

To change the address a company has listed for you, you can use your 'right to rectification' for free through Rightly.

What's my right to rectification?

Your right to rectification means that you can tell any organisation that has your personal data to update it for free. It comes from GDPR, which applies in the UK and EU.

This applies for your name, address, gender or anything else you'd like to correct. It's your personal data after all.

What's that?

Personal data is any information that can directly or indirectly identify you as you. Think address, beliefs, and financial records.

Sending a rectification request can help you make your data work for you.

You can:

  • stop companies sending packages and communication to the wrong place
  • take control of your personal data
  • save time by sending multiple requests at once

Who should I update my details with?

It's not just your friends and family who need to know when you move! We know that it can be a lot to keep track of, so we've created a rough checklist for you:

  1. Your employer
  2. HMRC
  3. Your council
  4. Your gym or local societies
  5. Newspaper & Magazine subscriptions
  6. Any relevant insurance companies
  7. DVLA
  8. Healthcare providers like our Dentist or Optician
  9. Banks, Loan companies or Pension plan provider

How do I send a rectification request?

The easiest way to update your details is by sending a request through Rightly.

  1. Press 'get started' above and search for the companies you'd like to contact
  2. Enter your basic details so that they can identify you, including your new address
  3. Send your request

If you can't find the one that you want, please contact our customer support team - they'd be happy to help!

It may also be helpful to set up a redirect with Royal Mail and to change your address on your driver's license.

How long until a company responds to my request?

After the company has received your request, they have to reply in full within 30 days, or give a valid reason for asking for an extension. If this happens, our support team is here to help!

What if they refuse to update my details?

Don't worry, you can tell any company to correct inaccurate personal data, even if you don't know for sure whether or not they have it. They have to confirm with you what they have and that they've updated them. This is thanks again to your ‘right of rectification’ under GDPR law.

What if I’m not sure if they have my data?

You can still ask them. If they don’t have it, they have to let you know.

Why Rightly?

We’re free because our mission is to make data fairer, for everyone.

We don't use consumer data for commercial purposes, which means we'll never, ever sell your data. It also means that there are no adverts or hidden costs.
